10,000 HITS BLOG CANDY, and meet Gretel !!!!!

WOW, my blog has finally reached 10,000 hits, so in lieu of a picture of a swap card, here's the blog candy announcement. I want to give a big thanks to all of you that stop in here. Reading your comments gives me warm fuzzies and makes me feel good when I know that I actually inspired someone else. I don't live around very many people that are creative in the rubber stamping way, so it's nice to have support - even if it is from people I may never meet. Thanks for all of your kind words. I don't use my comment section to reply to people's compliments, but understand that I really do appreciate them and I read every single one. If you take the time to e-mail me, I will always do my best to get back to you - unless your e-mail won't accept mine ;) Ha ha, huh, SuzieQ? Anyway, without further ado, here's the BLOG CANDY I promised followed by a picture of the newest member of our family. I will explain each photo.

The winner of this blog candy will receive a lunch box tin (fits A2-sized cards) that can be altered to hold cards, recipes, memories, etc. Also included is one of those fun $1 stamps from Michael's, 30 (2 each of 15 colors) Giga Scallop Circle punched pieces of card stock, 30 accompanying neutral colored Mega Circle punched pieces of card stock, 10 blank, 4x4, medium weight alterable coasters, some gold ribbon from Michael's, a baggie of assorted color and size Prima flowers, and lastly, a CTMH incentive stamp that I earned and have never used (it says "love" and is sitting on the coasters). What do you have to do to win this Blog Candy? Well, in honor of our newest family member, Gretel, leave a comment telling me about your favorite pet. Who it is, was, would be, something that they did, etc. If you don't have one, or perhaps don't like them, you can just leave a comment saying "enter me" or something of the sort. If you enter anonymously, you can't win, so make sure to sign in with your name. It's a silly thing to comment on, but I thought it might prove interesting. Here is a picture of Gretel, I hope the quality is okay, my father took it ;)

Gretel is a 6 week old Pug, that we got to add to our family and hopefully provide a little more companionship to Oscar (our 1 year-old Pug - see him in this post) than we are able to provide him. I find that we are far busier and out-of-the-house than I would have expected, and I don't want Oscar to feel alone. A dog isn't like a cat and they don't seem to enjoy solitude quite as much. My mom got Gretel for us in Kentucky (where I was born/lived until going to the Air Force Academy) because we couldn't find a breeder here in Texas that we liked. She's tiny still, and we'll miss the next couple of weeks with her until my parents arrive here for a visit the first week in April. Emma named Oscar (we think after Oscar the Grouch), and so fittingly, we asked her what we should name this puppy. Had we asked Sarah, it probably would have been Poo-Poo as it is, unfortunately, one of her favorite things to say right now. We didn't want to disappoint her with not using her name, nor name the puppy something awful. :) So, Emma said Gretel right away, with almost no hesitation, and Gretel it is! It's funny, as we are approaching the birth of our 3rd child, we ask the girls what we should name it if it's a boy, or a girl, and neither one of them will say anything. Ask about a puppy and there isn't even a pause!!! They do want a baby though, and Emma can't wait for it to arrive. She thinks my tummy isn't growing fast enough, but I disagree!! :)

I will leave this post up until the drawing (we'll let Emma do the honors again) on Friday at 12:00 p.m. Central Time (that's noon). It gets too annoying to have to fudge dates/times to keep a post at the top with blogspot, so you will have to bear with no posts until Friday announcing the winner and definitely with some stamped items for you to look at. Take care, and I look forward to hearing what you say!

  2. Gretel is a cute puppy. I love how both dogs got their names. Congrats on #3 baby. You are going to be VERY busy!I love your blog. It is great to see so many inspiring, cute ideas at a click of the mouse.I had pets growing up...dogs, cats, bunnies, etc, but I just have 2 kids and a husband to take care of now and that is enough for me. My husband, however, has 3 horses and a dog and my son has a cat, which is supposed to catch mice. I say supposed to because I caught a mouse the other day and when I took it outside and gave it to our cat he just swatted at it a few times and let it run away. (I'm sure we will catch him again!).Anyway, thanks again for the great blog.Emily A--UTemily_timberline@yahoo.com

  3. Good for you on the 10K hits...my parents breed pugs. The male of the household (the bull who ran the territory!) was quite stout and would breathe heavy from crossing the backyard. Every summer he would jump in the pool at least once...have you ever seen a pug try to swim? It's quite pathetic and my dad would have to jump in and rescue him...too funny! He has retired as the stud but don't tell him that!

  4. Hi Marie. I've been down with a VERY nasty bug. I get up, go back to bed and it's the same thing over and over, that is why you haven't heard from me. I'm still weak but trying to do something.Congratulations on you "hits" and that's some great blog candy. Gretel is adorable.I had a cat that some neighbors moved away and left behind many years ago. We took him in but he would never let us touch him and wouldn't stay in the house. As soon as he finished eating he would go to the door and meow to be let out. Can you spell traumatized? I loved that cat.

  5. How cute is she! I would love a pug. We have the cutest dachsie named Sophie. I love how she sleeps at our feet under the covers every night. She keeps us nice and toasty! Great blog candy. Congrats on the 10K hits.

  6. 10K!! Congratulations! I peeked through your cards, I understand why!I don't have a pet. I would love a dog...a chocolate lab! I live in a condo at the moment and although I see big dogs around the place I just don't think it's fair to keep them locked up. If I ever graduate to a house...Yosha

  7. Great blog candy and a really cute dog!! My favorite pet is our dog Cinder, a 13 yr old dalmatian I have had longer than my DH! :) Sadly, she's fading fast, but we still love her!

  8. Great candy! Great pix on your blog too!My favorite pet was a baby iguana that I bought during college. I didn't have him for very long. But he was memorable. The other girls in my house were NOT PLEASED when I came home with him. I wanted to call him Griffin. The guy I was hanging out with called him Chuck and it stuck. After many months, I sold it to a friend who wanted it for her baby brother. So it all ended well. I don't think my mom would have wanted to take care of an iguana, regardless of its size, when I was in Europe for a semester.

She is a gorgeous rotweiler/husky mix (I know it sounds funny, but she has golden brown eyes with red hair) She was struck by a semi about 5 years ago & survived! She is a 3 legged dog now, and when she runs you can't even tell. She's a loving, happy dog :)

  18. AWWWW... The new puppy is to cute!! I just love pugs!! My favorite pet is Ty-ty the super weinie!! My standard dauschund Tyler is about 7 years old and is just the bigest baby would ever see. We rescued him when he was about 1 or so, at least that what the vets think. He loves the kids and Preston and Haley have both teethed on his tail. (not my choice of teething rings mind you) but he does not mind abit. His favorite place to sit is in my recliner in the living room about mid day in the sunbeam with Preston using him as a pillow! He is just a great fat dog...hince the name Ty-ty the super weinie!!

  19. Isn't Gretel a cutie! My MIL had a pug (Missy) who looke just like her! My favorite pet was Chloe...a female Bassett Hound...that we had for 12 years. She died of a brain tumor...so sad. She was the sweetest thing and her favorite treat was Frosty Paws...the dog ice cream thing. She would do a "butt hop" whenever she knew it was time for her treat! Even though she has been gone 5 years... I really miss Chloe...

  20. What a cute puppy!! We have just one pet - Miss Kitty (original, right?). My son has her brother (Andrew) and had her mom (Kate) till she passed away last year. This was the last kitten left - he gave the others to friends - and he assured us she was a "he". Well, she got seriously ill when she was very small and when the vet asked "his" name we said Rocky (she's a long haired tabby). Well, when we came to pick "him" up, they informed us we would need to change "his" name to Rockette. We didn't like that so my husband calls her his baby kitty - she follows his around like a puppy and sleeps on his pillow at night. She will hang out with me but only if he's not around. I still love the kitty, but I am considering getting my own snuggly cat - she's not a snuggly kitty at all, even for him. She's our furbaby :-)

  21. Gretel is SO cute! My friend's mum breeds pugs here in Australia and she will only ever sell them in pairs, apparently they get really lonely on their own. I'm sure Oscar will LOVE having her around, along with the rest of your family

  25. Wow, congrats on 10,000 hits AND the new cute fur baby. There has always been an animal of some sort in my home since I was a child. The one that was most special to me was my cat Bunzy. My brother and I are 13 months apart and we were always together - until he started kindergarten. I was sad when he wasn't around so my took me down the street to a neighbors house to get one of her free kittens that her cat just had. I remember sitting under the tree in the front yard with my mom and this tiny black kitten and naming her Bunzy. I have no idea why that name, but that's what I named her. I was 4 at the time and Bunzy was a member of our family until I was 15 when she had to be put to sleep after being hit by a car. I think she will always be my most beloved pet.

  26. I love your blog. You have so many wonderful ideas.Gretel is a very cute puppy! I just to give her a great big puppy hug.I must say that my favorite pet is my rabbit named Baby Girl. She is a sweet white rabbit that was left in a cardboard during a rain storm. I'm not certain of her age but she has such a great personality. I potty trained her and taught her a few tricks. She is not caged, she lives in a room in our house I can let her outside without worrying about her running away. I think she loves us as much as we love her. Thanks,-Chercher-k@pacbell.net

  27. Geez, you ask me to pick ONE pet? I have loved most all of my pets (I guess the exclusion would be some of the kids' pet critters which weren't truly mine to begin with). My favorite right now is Sophie. She's a shepherd/chow mix. We got her from a friend who'd rescued her from an abusive home. She has these gorgeous brown eyes that are so expressive that sometimes I swear there is a person inside her.We also have a Shih-Tzu but he's on my SHIH list because he won't quit peeing in the house since I went back to work. I think he's mad that he isn't getting as much attention.Janejaneenaj72312836@aol.comor troopersma on SCS

He gives us unconditional love...if we go to the store it's like we've been gone for weeks when we return. I am so happy he joined our family...the best decision we ever made. 36. Until I was married, I was timid around pets and didn't pay much attention to ones that lived in my childhood home. A few days before our new baby daughter arrived, we adopted a black Cocker-Poo named Betsy. We introduced the two babies on the floor in our living room and from then on, Betsy was the protector caretaker of all our children, guarding them with her life.

  38. Gretel is ADORABLE... I have two overly pamperped pooches that are both rescued dalmatians named Carter & Oreo who have falled into the lap of luxury and don't even know it. Their favorite spot to lay (other than on your lap that is.. Yep try fitting 2 80+ pound dalmatians on your lap at the same time. Doesn't work too well) is under my blankets on my bed. SHHH don't tell my sister, she'll be repulsed. Carter is the biggest baby of all, he carries around a stuffed dalmatian like it's his baby. When I make him give it a tubby (in the laundry it goes) he hates it for about a week until he can get it good and dirty again and stops smelling like Tide and Downy. Instead of callin it his baby we should call it 'pigpen' from Peanuts. If it hasn't been left out in the yard and all dirty... he's not happy.

Congrats on all the hits and what fun blog candy!!! I'm very allergic to dogs, so tend to keep a distance. The only family pet we had was a cat for 17 years. We got her for our oldest DD when our youngest was born, but for some reason the kitten took to youngest DD and they were best buddies until the end. We still miss her as she was very much part of the family.

  52. Since adulthood I have had man many pets-so many that I now consider my home a mini zoo. Had a cat that lived to be 21, a dog that I swear was an idiot unless you said biscuit every 5 minutes, rats-naked rats. They so so smart too. And piggies-the last two were Thelma and Louise-and they left together too!But the one who meant the most to me was Clancy. He died last Halloween ver unexpectedly. I got him a few months after my dad died mostly to take my mind off sad things in my family and I always have this thing about the Humane Society-I take the one no one else wants. The first day home Clancy ate my sofa cushion while I was out for a run. The more he misbehaved, the more I thought he needed a playmate-so back to the HS for Fletch-a total basket case-beaten, starved and pitiful. Those two roamed the yard, leaving worn out trails that I no longer tried to reseed. Fletch died a few years ago after developing an long term illness. Clancy was fine altho a bit lonely-so I got the devil Marley. Clancy was fine one day, not eating the next took him to the vet for some meds, fine again the next few days and then started breathing weird and died on the way to the ER vet. 4 1/2 months later, I still dont get it. His Halloween costume still hangs here, his bowl still sits empty. I lost my best buddy. He was truly king of the backyard and I doubt I will have another 4 legged child like him again. I am planning on adopting in early May after my son's wedding because Marley is lonely and driving me bananas with his wailing and possesivness. Maybe I wil get really lucky again. And that is about the time others decide those cute little holiday pets arent cute anymore either. Pounds animals are the best!

  62. What a cutie Gretel is!! And I LOVE your blog. Check it everyday to see what's new. Thank you so much for sharing your art and talent. New I love animals and have had so many favorites over the years, but my most favorite was not even mine. When we were looking for a new house a neighbor's golden retreiver "Sydney" met us on the front porch with a stick in his mouth. After we moved in he would come visit every day. I grew to love Sydney like my own, and his owners probably got mad that he spent so much time at the neighbors house. Then again, they were an old couple and didn't give him very much attention. Sydney was very special. I felt like he could read my thoughts when he looked into my eyes. Sadly he go hit by a car a few years ago. I still think of him often. Sorry so long! Crystal

  63. It's amazing what a puppy can bring into you heart.I love my puppy Jazz! She was a special package from God no doubt about it. 3 Years ago our lab/shep pup was hit by a car and left on the side of the road out front our house. It took 3 years to get over the pain (we only had him 6 months). We were offered 8 puppies in the course of a year but we just couldn't do it. Then I received a call from a friend who's dog had puppies, nope don't want one let alone pay $600, don't like shitzues or jack russels why would I want a mix of the two (yep a Jack-Shitz)? 3 months later they needed a puppy sitter for a day and that was it. Hubby still didn't want the dog, choice-either she stays and you go or she stays and you stay. It's been love ever since. She sleeps on our bed (something we both said would never happen)and wakes us every morning with such happy kisses and a waggin' tail. She is so stinkin adorable, a year later and we still laugh at the way she plays. She's a 10 pound bundle of love. Anyways as you can see I could go on all day about Jazz but I wont bore you. She's our avatar on any of our internet stuff (SCS too), my kids even have her on their cell phone wall papers! No matter what life brings you, hardships or joy your puppy will always be fulla luv!Katharinekountry_korners@yahoo.ca

Cute puppy! I had a ton of animals growing up. My mom worked at a vet when I was a kid and when they would find animals that were hurt, my mom woul bring them home and take care of them until they were better. My favorite animal was a bird. I got him when I was thirteen. He talked, laughed and even fake coughed. Unfortunately two years ago my ex-husband put his cage outside and the bird opened one of his food bowl doors and he flew away.

  65. You mean we don't win the dog??? What a cutie she is. Congrats on your hits. Love your blog and blog candy. Please enter me in your contest. I just found it and am adding it to my reader so I can keep uptodate. My favorite pet is my dog Nikita. She's part husky/collie mix, weights about 80 lbs and although she is a walking fur ball and should be an outdoor dog but isn't, I love her. She is such a great pet, so protective of me (& jealous if I give anyone my attention)I would trust her with my life. She is never far from my side during the day and at night she sleeps outside my bedroom door or at the top of the stairs to protect me. I also have a cat (who was here first) and the two do NOT get along at all even though I have had the dog for about 12 yrs now. I am pretty sure that Nikita does not like to share my attention with the cat. Regardless, they are both special to me.

  66. It's so hard to choose between pets, but one of my favourites was a dog we had when I was a kid. He was very patient with things like being tied to the toboggan (although he never did figure out how to be a sled dog - he was happy to pull it if I was leading him, but if I tried to ride we would just go in circles).

  67. This candy is awesome! I want that scalloped circle punch so bad! I just told hubby this morning that I want absolutely nothing but that punch. I am perfectly happy with my stamps, my paper, my embellishments and everything else, just gotta getta da puncha! We have a guinea pig named Franklin (yes, after the cartoon turtle) and I love him but I am highly allergic to pet dander (just happened within the last year or so) and can't hold him too often. So, I could say that our pets (and I use that term very loosely!) are the deer that are running and playing in our field every day. We also have a squirrel in our front tree that we have named (Goliath) and accepted as one of our own. We feed him and watch him all the time. Congrats on the new puppy and the 10,000 hits! Can't wait to get there!

  68. Congratulations on your big numbers and the new puppy. I'm not surprised at your numbers, your blog is great. My favorite pet was our wolf hybrid Avalanche. He was such a big baby so playful and loving. We lost him about a year ago and have not gotten another, cuz he would be too hard to replace, maybe sometime soon.

  69. Unfortunately, my parents never allowed us to have pets. Instead, we had chickens and rabbits and geese. But...I did get to play with my neighbours' dogs. I'll never forget Charlie (black lab cross) and Peewee (black wiener-dog cross). Oh and recently, I 'babysat' Ollie, the black cat, again for a couple of weeks. Hopefully he'll be back again soon. His owner travels lots and he's getting used to my place. I've been lucky to hold a baby pug once!!! SoooOOOoooOOOoo cute! Great question and contest!!! I loooooooove those scalloped circles!!!!!Cris
