Pink Pirouette Mojo Sketch

Dscn3834

I love Julee's Mojo Monday sketches.  You can check them out on her blog Poetic Artistry.  I don't know how I feel about this card though and I posted it "late" purposely to not be included in her fun contest (she gave out some free Verve Visual stamps!!) because the stitching is a little distracting.  I really like stitching and I find that I go a little crazy when I do it.  I need to learn some moderation I think.  Plus, the needle leaves such big holes that I feel like I notice them more than the stitching.  Should I get thicker thread to hide the holes?  Any help out there?  Specifically, I use a Janome Sew Mini and maybe it has a smaller needle I can buy?  Anyway, hope you like the card - I'm not sure yet about it.

I used my Wild Things stamp set from gel-à-tins for the flower.  I sponged the edges of that paper with my Pink Pirouette In Color Classic Ink, and then adhered it to some Pink Pirouette CS.  The little pearls are actually pearl dew drops from Ellen Hutson, LLC  and you'll find them in her store's sidebar in the "dew drop" section.  The sentiment is from the Hostess Level III stamp set in the upcoming SU! IB&C and is called Happiness Always.  I'm enjoying this set.  The paper is the Bella Rose DSP that I used on my card posted on Friday, and is found in the same/a similar pattern but in Kiwi Kiss and Riding Hood Red in the paper pack.  It's GORGEOUS paper!!!!  I may be wrong, but if I were the betting kind, I would venture to guess that there's going to be a stamp set to coordinate with the roses on the papers.  Maybe not, but I can't imagine having images that don't really go with any of the current flower sets - especially when they're that gorgeous.

Dscn3830Anyway, I used my Scallop Edge punch to make the scallops on the patterned paper.  I distressed the top edge of the Pink Pirouette layered on the DSP and did some paper piercing and then lined either side of the holes with some stitching.  I then did some zig-zag sewing along the edges of the focal image to adhere it to my card.  Please excuse the stitching there - I'm still on a learning curve for getting the stitches exactly where I want.  ;)  Next, I made the inside pretty too by adding a piece of the Bella Rose DSP.  You can see it in the picture to the left.  I hope you like it!! I just LOVE the Bella Rose papers and ALL of the new In Colors!!!!!

  1. Maybe a wider stitch? Can you adjust this, that way the holes are spaced further apart? I think the card is beautiful, I'm digging the monochromatic!

  5. Marie - you actually don't want to widen the stitch...lengthen it. Also use a smaller needle. When your ath the sewing store get one designed to sew silk or stretch. the smaller number on the needle the smaller the hole.

  6. You just need a smaller needle size. That would probably do the trick.
