Baby Boy Card

DSCN4992

DSCN4993_edited-1 I LOVED this card by Amy Sheffer and have just been waiting and waiting for a friend to have a baby so that I could make my own version of it. I love the little ribbon tabs - they remind me of the little tag blankets that you can buy for babies to stimulate them and give them something with texture and color that's soft to play with.  Anyway -  I tried to change the shapes on the card, and of course I changed the colors and images too.  I'm sure you can still see the inspiration and the overall LO from her card, but I tried to make it my own.

To get the waves, I punched a Bashful Blue circle using my new 1-3/4" circle punch and then pulled it through the Scallop Edge punch so that I didn't end up with a tiny piece of "left-over" paper.  Normally, you end up with a strip of paper when you use the Scallop Edge punch but by pulling it through the punch so that it didn't punch the bottom edge but rather only the top edge with the scallops, I was able to get a the reverse image on the bottom of my circle so that I could add some Dazzling Diamonds and adhere it right onto the bottom of the circle with the boat image on it and presto!  Waves!!!.  Clear as mud?  It's the same principle as making long tags with the tag punch by pulling a strip of paper through the punch so that the bottom isn't punched and you can make the tag longer than the actual shape on the punch.  I'm sure some of you are familiar with that?

Anyway, I hope you like it - I know I LOVE this card.  Amy is so talented and I think this is actually the first card of hers that I've CASE'd and I don't know what took me so long!??!!

  2. You not only tried to make it your own... you did! Very cute changes and I love the "taggies" idea. I'm wondering now how I could adapt that for a baby girl... perhaps make a bib and put the taggies on the edges of it? Thanks for the grease to get the creative wheels moving. :-)

  8. Very cute card! All the ribbon reminds me of a baby book I bought for a friend last year. It had all kinds of tabs around it for them to chew on.
