Idea Book & Catalog Inspiration

I really like using the IB&C for inspiration when I don't know what I want to stamp. I knew that I needed to make a baby card for a shower I'm attending tomorrow, but I didn't have a single idea in mind. So, as I was flipping through the IB&C I came across a card on page 61 (I didn't even have to look that far into it!!) that caught my eye. It was made with the Figures of Speech stamp set, and you can see the card here.

At first I was going to use the Hot to Dot wheel just like SU! did, but then I decided to use some of my So Saffron Palette o' Prints paper that I'm hoarding instead. I felt like the circles on the paper tied in nicely with the polka-dots on the itsy bitsy baby stamp in the Figures of Speech stamp set, and I thought So Saffron went well with Bashful Blue -SU! used a piece of Barely Banana CS on theirs. Next, I decided that since stamped image was in the shape of a circle, I would use the oval frame from Label Classics since it was the closest image to a circle in that set. SU! used the straight-edged rectangular one from Label Classics their Figures of Speech image was square. After taking care of that part of the card and coloring in my itsy bitsy baby image (stamped with Black StazOn) with my SU! markers and cutting out the scalloped oval frame, I stamped my Bashful Blue card with my Itty Bitty Backgrounds stamp that resembles the image you get from the SU! Color Spritzer Tool (since I don't have one). Next, I stamped the word "love" from the Wonderful Words stamp set and decided to use the little hearts that are on the baby's bib as my accents on the word "love"(SU! used the flower from their stamped image on their word and they only used it once and it was punched with a 1/4" circle punch). You can't tell, but I punched the hearts out with my 1/8" hand-held punch, and then punched out the same amount of 1/8" circles from Dimensionals to pop up the tiny circles too. I think these little hearts tie in the phrase I stamped inside the card very nicely with the outside. I used the Curvy Verses phrase inside the card that says "One little baby, many happy hearts". Both the scalloped oval and the itsy bitsy baby image are popped up on Dimensionals too.

Stamp Sets: Figures of Speech, Label Classics, Wonderful Words
Card Stock: Palette o' Prints, Bashful Blue, Whisper White
Ink: Black StazOn, Bashful Blue classic ink, SU! markers
Accessories: 1/8" hand-held circle punch, light blue gingham, Dimensionals

I'm very pleased with this card, and I really like the elegant simplicity of most of the samples in the IB&C. I need to CASE from it more often! Let me know what you think!!

P.S. - I "cheated" and made this post time for 30 min in the future so that it can be "tomorrow's" post. It is still really May 23rd.
