I finally stamped, and I don't like it....

Stamp Sets: Green Thumb, Flannel Plaid BG (love this one to death!!!)
Card Stock: Green Galore, Real Red, Whisper White
Ink: Real Red, Green Galore
Accessories: red eyelets, Word Window punch, Giga Scalloped Circle punch

Not that my stamping mo-jo was ever anything to be super proud of, but I feel like I've lost it. I don't know what it is about the balance of this card, but it doesn't do it for me. I added the eyelets last, and maybe that's part of it. Even though they're exactly evenly spaced (I'm a little OCD that way), they don't look like it. I wanted the ribbon to be tied on the left of the scalloped circle, and think maybe I could have, even though I wanted the scalloped circle where it is on the left, if I had tied it over the hole it would come through on the left side of the scalloped circle. Does that make sense? Anyway, this card took forever because I couldn't find my scalloped scissors that made scallops the size you see, so I used my word window punch to create little individual scallops and I had to keep messing with the size of the Whisper White piece of CS on top of them to get the spacing right for the scallops. I really didn't want to cut one in half at the edge or anything. Anyway, maybe someone out there will like this card. I've had it in my head for a while because I really wanted to use that polka-dot ribbon with the strawberry in this Green Thumb stamp set. I'd love to hear what you think. If I get time, I might try a second go at this card with some changes. Take care!!

  1. I had trouble using my Green Thumb set yesterday too! I'm not really a "cutesy" stamper, and these lovely strawberries are so cute! Maybe just a strip of coordinating designer paper across the card under the scallop circle? I think that would definitely help a little bit! Good luck!Amy

  2. I was thinking the same thing as Amy. It looks a little bare under the main image. A strip of designer paper might finish it off.Hugs and smiles

  3. I think you are being too hard on yourself. I think it looks fine. But I know what you mean...oftentimes there will be a card that just doesn't "live up to my expectations" :-)Where is the plaid flannel bkgd from? Love that.Jane

  4. I really like your card!! You are making me want the Flannel Plaid :)How about masking a few more strawberries -- or maybe matting a plain circle and then stamping a strawberry? Though the card is lovely as is!!

  5. I wonder if adding some black would help to ground it out a little more. Jenn Balcer is the queen of using just a bit of black. Go check out her SCS gallery and I bet you'll be able to find a way to make this card into something you like

  6. Awwww, it's really not bad but I do agree that it might need a little something behind the focal image.

  7. I like the card, Marie. I really examined it and thought that the white is glaring. As previous comments have stated it could need a mat. I also thought that smaller may be better or you could use a circle for the sentiment to bring continuity to it. Whatever you do I'm sure I'll be happy with it. HTH
