Celebrating an Eagle Scout

DSCN7223

DSCN7224_edited-1This is a simple card I made to congratulate the newest Eagle Scout in our Ward at church.  He is also a neighbor, and my husband was responsible for working with him and the other young men at our church before he deployed.  It was nice to be able to go with the kids - I just wish that the hubby could have been there with us.  Of course, I wish he could be just about anywhere with us ;)

It was a very nice Eagle Court of Honor (unfortunately, I don't have anything to compare it to, but now it has raised the bar pretty high for the rest I will attend) and I thought a card of congratulations was something I should give the young man.  I don't know what is "customary" at these things, so I thought a card would be appropriate.

I hope it's not girlie!!! :)  I tried to keep the embellishments at a minimum (2 brads) and I did some paper piercing and popped up a few of the stars on the main image.  You can't really tell, but two of the colors are the upcoming In Colors.  I used the Soft Suede (the brown) and Dusty Durango (the rust). That Old Olive really makes the Dusty Durango look a little off-color, but oh well.  I think it was a good color combo no matter how it appears on the screen ;)  What do you think?

  1. Very 'manly'! I have just begun to play with my new goods, and I have my stmap camps this weekend, so it will be next week before I get to focus. Sigh ....

  2. I like the card, and the color combos. Greens and oranges always seem to work well together. I am excited my box will be here next Thursday, but I will be at the hospital with Troys surgery :0( Do I hang out at the hospital, or sneak home to get my box LOL! Decisions are the worst! lol

  5. I like the card! The stars are fun... it's not girly and I hope he liked it. Is it only the screen that makes it look off color to you, or does it look different in person?
Either way it still looks good...

  7. Great card. Being an active Scouter and the mother of an Eagle Scout, a card is very appropriate. Often, I will send a small donation to the local Scout Council in honor of the new Eagle, and indicate that in the card. Just an idea for the future.

  8. Thanks Dee for the idea!! My husband is a HUGE supporter of the Scouting programs - he got his became an Eagle scout as soon as he was allowed to. I wasn't able to get in touch with him (my husband is deployed right now) before this Eagle Court of Honor, so I didn't know what to do. I like the idea of a donation in their name though. Thanks again!!
