Bella Pocket Card

So, Card Patterns sketch #7 is here!!!  You can go check it out here and this is my take on the sketch.

I immediately thought of a pocket card, and so that's what I made.  To the left is the pull-out card that's inside my pocket card.  I usedmy super-dusty Giga Scalloped Oval punch (by Marvy Uchida??? It's been so long I don't even remember, they were a craze about 2 years ago) and Mega Oval punch because I was too lazy to go grab my Nestabilities and run them through the Big Shot (horrible, aren't I?).  I used my new Eyelet Border punch from SU! and of course, the stamp set you're all probably sick and tired of seeing - Friends 24-7.  I also have an upcoming "Stamps in the Mail" kit to get in the mail next week and we're using the Bella Birds DSP from SU! so I was in the mood to pull that out and play with it some before I have to get cranking on all of the kits.  Anyway, I dyed the ribbon with some Bordering Blue ink and a stampin' sponge and I used buttons from Fresh Favorites II (So Saffron) and Button Bouquet (Pink Pirouette and Baja Breeze) assortments.  It was crazy - the Baja Breeze one I thought matched pretty well when layered with the others on the card.  Close enough for me, anyway!  I tied some Linen Thread into little bows on each button and stuck them on with mini glue dots.  I did a lot of paper piercing around the ovals and on the top and bottom of the pull-out card.  This was a really fun card to make - I used to make pocket cards all the time and think I need to make some more!!  I would love to see what you make and submit over at CP, so please leave a comment letting me know you played along so I can give you some raves in a comment on your card!!

Today's card was another assignment for my Friend to Friend swap.  This one was to be made using items we would normally hoard.  Well, I have not used my Carousel Notes yet, and I like to hang on to my bling - like the Clear Rhinestone brads.  So, I used my handy dandy new Circle Scissors Plus and Glass Mat to cut some circles to mount on the Carousel note card.  I added a circle "card" that I cut out with my Circle Scissors Plus and adhered to the back of the card so that it would "open" instead of being a post card-style card.  I also used my never-before used Pick a Petal Classy Brass Template to do the circle shaped paper piercing (yes...more!! he he LOL) and the dry embossing of the circles in each scallop. 

Of course I had to pull out my current favorite set, Friends 24-7.  I used my blender pen to put Baja Breeze ink only on the flowers on the stamp and my Old Olive SU! marker to ink the stems and leaves.  I stamped it and then water-colored the image with the Baja Breeze and Old Olive ink and a blender pen with both.  I like this effect of an image with no black or single-colored outline.  Rather, the flowers are one color with a lighter shade filling them and the same for the leaves/stems. 

It was a fun card to make and I hope you (and Carmen of course!) like it!!!

Workshop Cards

 

These little cards could be used either as a thank you for a hostess as a little gift set for her, or as cards that the guests at a workshop could make as one of the make and takes.  Why do I have these?  Well...I haven't had a workshop in the last 1+ year since moving from Texas (anybody want to hostess one?????  I can't see to find stampers in Dover or even the surrounding area that don't either already have a demo or like to stamp - don't people out here love to stamp like me?!?!) but one of the assignments in my previously mentioned Friend to Friend swap was to send something related to a workshop.  This is what I came up with - it was a set of 4 little cards and envies to go with them.  Yes...more paper piercing :)

Is it Halloween Already???

No, it's not Halloween - it's St. Patrick's Day!  Happy St. Patrick's day to you all.  This card is definitely not "in season" but it was one of the assignments in the Friend to Friend swap that I was in (I mentioned it yesterday) and the assignment was to make a card for our friend for their favorite holiday.  My pal Carmen said that Halloween was her favorite holiday so I got to dust this set off (mount it too - I hadn't used it yet!!!) and use it!  It was fun - the moon was made by masking the glossy white CS with a 1" circle I punched.  The cat and the bats are actually embossed with black embossing powder, and the Frightful Fence jumbo wheel is what I used to make the super cute, cobwebby fence.  The sentiment comes form the All Holidays stamp set.  The distressed edges that you see (mostly at the top of the Night of Navy sponged color in the sky) were actually just "there".  After I sponged the flaws in the paper where maybe it was scuffed in storage or something didn't absorb the ink.  I thought it added to the card so I left it there rather than trimming them off or trying to hide them somehow.  Hmmm...sometimes I wonder if I should admit my mistakes - maybe you would think I do all of these "cool" things on purpose? ;)  Usually I mention them though to let those of you out there who think you're the only ones that have flubbs now and then know that you're not the only ones!!! :)  Anyway, the rest of the card is pretty self explanatory...more paper piercing, of course ;)

Another 2-5-7-10 Box

 

You all probably saw the little box I posted earlier here, and this is one I made recently for a "Friend to Friend" swap that I was in.  We had a different assignment each week for 6 weeks and then boxed up what we made and sent it to our friend.  The next several posts will show you what I made her.  She likes the little juice mixes that are just the right size for adding to a water bottle, so that's what I stuffed (and I mean stuffed!) the inside of this box with.  She said she's not a huge flower fan (she likes them, but doesn't prefer them) and so I thought of the little owls in the Owl Together Now stamp set.  I figured I could make a cute box out of them and this is what I came up with.  I am absolutely addicted to paper piercing lately.  I can't seem to do a card or other project without it!  I did do some stamping on the Pacific Point CS with my Seeing Spots set - I liked that look for a background.  Anyway, I hope you like it!

I was TOTALLY inspired by this project by Diana Gibbs that she posted on her blog a while back.  I also used this past week's color challenge over at SCS, which you can see here.  The combo was Basic Black, Rose Red and Always Artichoke.  I had a lot of fun making this card and playing with the sketch.  The patterned paper behind the circle element is from an old hostess package of 6x6 SU! papers and the Rose Red button is also retired SU!, but other than that everything else used is current and from SU!.  The card is 5-1/2" x 5-1/2".

2-5-7-10 Treat Box

Happy Friday the 13th!  For the most part I pre-schedule all of my posts, and we have been really sick in my house.  Every single one of us has had the stomach flu along with a few of the kids having ear infections and my middle DD having strep throat.  The two littlest ones (I have 3) had croup too.  Fun stuff!!  So, my posts have kept with the every other day frequency because I haven't gotten a lot of stamping time.

Anyway, I love making these little boxes.  They're SO quick and easy to make.  If you click here, you will be taken to the tutorial over on SCS for how to make them (no re-inventing the wheel coming from me!!).  I needed a cute little container to send some treats to a good friend and this is what I came up with.  The little birdie just looked like he was singing happily so I thought he could sing some hearts ;)  Hope you like it!!
